I couldn’t decide what was most arresting: the fabulous hues of the rich red-and-ochre walls, the immaculate attention to the smallest detail – from flooring to dining utensils – or the spectacular view.
In hindsight, with time to digest all the wonderfulness, it was the culmination of everything. This luxury Careyes villa exudes simple styling, but this effect has not been created simply. Love, forethought and hours of meticulous care have gone into making this home the ideal venue for a fabulous Careyes vacation.
The harmonious cluster of palapa-roofed spaces – with an almost village feel to it – is the work of the renowned Mexican architect Diego Villaseñor. The main feature is the 7-metre high living/dining palapa, with additional palapa buildings each housing a bedroom suite.
From the entryway all the way down to the guest suite Jacuzzi, cascading perfection is on display here.
Wherever you are, you’ll love the sound of the waves breaking on the shore below and the wonderful staff who are ever-present and ready to pamper your every whim.
EMPHASIS ON GASTRONOMY
Careyes is the home of the house party! There are a couple of very good local restaurants, but the custom here is to eat “a casa” – in the magnificent property you are calling home. Feel free to invite new friends over, host a cocktail for 50 of your nearest and dearest, or fly in your fave DJ for the weekend.
Due to the common practice of home entertaining, properties in Careyes all have very well-trained staff – and this Careyes villa is no exception. Mealtimes are always a joy with a different table setting for each gastronomic event. The cook is a whiz with all local dishes as well as many international options.
I loved the way the staff unobtrusively knew whenever I needed anything, always had a cold towel or libation at the ready and instinctively knew when our group was ready for the next cocktail.
Really, a gold-star rating for the food, presentation and service.
Menus will be provided for guests’ approval prior to arrival.
Careyes-style living emphasizes simplicity, with the focus on natural elements: stone, colour, straw roofs (palapas) and wood. Here, each bedroom suite is a study in natural, local elements and sophisticated, unpretentious style. I loved that each suite has its own small patio which leaves you feeling suspended between heaven and ocean. Never far from the sound of the sea – your own private retreat is a haven of peace, quiet and comfort.
Five spacious suites, each with King-size beds and en-suite bathrooms, are located on cascading levels connected by short staircases. These suites are all much the same size and offer spectacular views and similar detailing. The two suites furthest from the living palapa, Bedrooms 3 + 4, share a lovely terrace and Jacuzzi – all with, as you’d expect, the magnificent vistas! Bathrooms pay homage to the super-sized tubs that reside in each. Like mini plunge pools, they make the ideal locale for a cool soak after a day’s sun … or extremely large champagne buckets!

The main palapa, with a ceiling height of over 7 meters, is where the action happens – be it socializing, dining, snoozing, reading, contemplating… The palapa is a great spot to get away from it all – it offers cool shade and ocean breezes. And the fabulous staff is always on hand to bring you anything your heart desires!
The pool patio is another wonderful place to have lunch, spend the day and hang out.
Wherever you happen to meander, you’ll be awed by the wonderful stone details in the floor – designs that are typical to Pacific coast Mexico. As you would expect, this Careyes villa e has it down to a fine art.
This exceptional home offers the best in outdoor living with private patios, lush and exotic gardens and immaculately-kept grounds where the scent of the trailing white hibiscus adds yet another layer of hedonism.
A beautifully detailed Careyes vacation home walking distance from Playa Rosa (beach) on a luscious hilltop. Careyes is located with Cabo Corrientes in the northeast and Barra de Navidad in the southwest. Here, you will find nature at its most supreme, with a wide offering of boat tours, fishing trips, water sport activities, ATV adventures, jungle expeditions and more. Rainy season (Sep-Nov) and June are VERY quiet.
