Last December, when we introduced our newsletter, we at Punta Mita Rentals decided it was a great idea to feature a cocktail of the month with recipe and photos. Now, taking photos of food and beverages is not the easiest thing in the world, especially when the photos are of frosty cocktails in the tropical heat.
We had been using our good friend and intrepid photographer, Kemi Vernon, for many of our home shoots as she always seems to have great ideas for any creative challenge we throw at her. Fortunately for us, she happily took on the monthly Cocktail Challenge. I’m sure you will agree with me, they have all been mouth-watering.
Kemi, who originally hails from California, is a long time Punta Mita resident. She first began studying photography in 9th grade, eventually graduating from Montana’s Rocky Mountain School of Photography with a degree in photography. She learned many different techniques over the years – including how to develop her own film (remember those days!)
About eleven years ago she was asked by a friend to go to Sayulita and take photos of surf camps there. Anybody who knows Kemi has heard about her prowess as a surfer – she has travelled all over the world chasing waves and great shots. So, not surprisingly, this marriage of surf and photography was a natural.
From the surf camps sprung visitors who wanted her to take family portraits, the Xmas card photo shot from paradise, events, weddings and, of course, architecture. Whatever the subject, she is able to project her own, fresh interpretation of it and capture the moment, the expression or the style.
Kemi is available for shoots in the Punta Mita area all year round. You will find her easygoing, professional manner a snap to work with.
