Golf enthusiasts have two world-famous Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses to choose from at the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita.

The Bahia course features undulating fairways and greens, while the Pacifico course runs along the seaside with vistas of white-sand beaches and the Sierra Madre Mountains.

If your ball doesn’t fall victim to the ocean, an amphibious cart will escort you to the “Tail of the Whale” – the world’s only natural island green – located in the ocean.

4. Snorkeling at the Marietta Islands

The Marietta Islands, just a 20-minute boat ride away, are home to over 90 species of aquatic birds – including the rare Blue-footed Booby bird.

The four uninhabited volcanic islands are a protected marine and wildlife sanctuary, recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.

Snorkel in these pristine waters for a chance to see manta rays, eels, octopus, and tropical fish. Swim under the natural rock arch and climb up onto the white sand beach called Playa del Amor.

5. Whale watching

Every year between December and April, Humpback whales come to mate and calve in the protected waters of Banderas Bay.

Join one of our captains for a brief 45-minute whale encounter in their calving grounds just off the coast of Punta de Mita.

Or, if you want to spend more time with these gentle giants, consider taking a 3 hour tour with our ocean naturalist – roaming the bay in search of the most exciting and intimate experiences, while listening to whalesong live on a hydrophone system.

6. Deep Sea Fishing

Some of the best deep-sea fishing in Mexico is located in the Bay of Banderas.

Depending on the time of year, your captain will take you to the hot spots for Mahi-Mahi, Red Snapper, Roosterfish, Sea Bass, Sierra Mackerel, and Tuna.

If you’re really lucky, you’ll catch a large Sailfish or Marlin. Two world records have been set in the Bay, one for Wahoo and the other for a Marlin weighing 709 pounds (322 KG).

7. Surfing

Whether you are an experienced surfer or this is your first time on a board, our local guides will find the best breaks suited to your level.

If you are a beginner, we will journey to a sand-bottom break where you will learn the basics on land before hitting the waves.

For those with more experience, a number of rocky reef breaks are accessible either by land or boat. Expect long rides.

8. ATVs

Accelerate your senses as you speed through the jungle towards the mountaintop. Once there, stop a moment and take in the exceptional ocean views.

You’ll enjoy lots of photo opportunities on this off-road adventure.
